Privacy Policy
This privacy policy is applicable to the Retro Launcher app (hereinafter referred to as "Application") for mobile devices, which was developed by berlain.ui
Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide (Optional)
- Premium Purchase: If you choose to purchase the premium version, we process the transaction through Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment information (credit card, etc.) - this is handled by Google.
- Contact Information: If you contact us via email, we collect your email address and message content to provide support.
- Icon Requests: When you use the in-app icon request feature, we collect:
- Your email address
- The package names and component information of apps you request
- App icons (for reference when creating new icons)
- Your premium status (to prioritize requests)
B. Information Collected Automatically
- Analytics Data: We use Firebase Analytics to collect:
- Device information (model, OS version, screen size)
- Usage statistics (which features are used, session duration)
- Crash reports (to fix bugs)
- IP address (anonymized by Firebase for geographic approximation)
- Purchase Verification: To verify premium status, we check with Google Play Services if a valid purchase exists.
- Google Sign-In Data: When you sign in with your Google account:
- We collect your Google User ID (for syncing premium status across devices)
- We do not collect your email address, name, or profile information unless you explicitly provide them
- This User ID is used solely to verify your premium purchase across multiple devices
C. Device Permissions We Use
- Accessibility Service (Optional): If you enable the double-tap-to-lock feature, Retro Launcher uses Android's Accessibility API solely to detect the gesture and lock your screen. This service does not read, record, collect, or transmit any screen content or personal data. This feature is disabled by default and only activates if you explicitly enable it in the app's settings and grant the permission.
- App Detection: Retro Launcher detects your installed applications to display them on the home screen and for the icon request feature. We do not transmit, store, or analyze your installed apps list except when you explicitly send an icon request. This data remains entirely on your device until you choose to submit a request.
- Internet Permission: Required for analytics, purchase verification, Google Sign-In, and icon requests.
- Notification Access (Optional): If you grant this permission, we can display music information (song title, artist, album art) in the music widget, and show a notification dot on home screen app icons that currently have active notifications. This data is processed locally and never leaves your device.
D. Media Information (Music Widget)
If you grant notification access permission, Retro Launcher can read media notifications from your music apps to display:
- Song title, artist name, and album art
- Playback controls (play/pause, next, previous)
Important:
- This information is processed locally on your device in real-time
- We do not store, transmit, or share this media information
- This data is never sent to our servers or any third party
- The widget only works for music apps that show media notifications
- You can disable this feature at any time by revoking notification access in your device settings
E. Notification Badges
If you grant notification access permission, Retro Launcher can also detect which apps currently have active notifications, in order to display a small dot on that app's home screen icon.
- Only the package name of the notifying app is read — notification title, text, and content are never read or stored
- This feature is optional and disabled by default
- You can disable it in the app's settings, or revoke notification access entirely in your device's Settings → Apps → Retro Launcher → Permissions
How We Use Your Information
- Premium Syncing: Your Google User ID allows us to verify your premium purchase across all your devices, ensuring you have access to premium features wherever you use Retro Launcher.
- Icon Requests: The information collected through icon requests (package names, component info, app icons) is used solely to create new icons for future updates. We may contact you via email if we need clarification about your request or to notify you when your requested icons are added.
- Analytics: Usage data helps us understand how people use Retro Launcher and prioritize improvements.
